The strong contrast between the diagonally seperated elements gives and interesting back-drop to the child.I think the background would have worked with the child also...excellent tone and structure.
The child is a little static but not sharp , I think a lillte "2bevegelse uskarphet" would have given the photo more life
I am not so keen on the strong light coming in from the right but not a lot you can do there without changing the angle you took the shot from.Excellent back ground.
