I think there are really just a handful of people here at Foto.no who really understand the process it takes to get to this result.
( and I do not belong to those ones :)

One of the side-effects of the post-darkroom world, most often called PS makes us believe that basically almost every effect is on hand - just a question of trying - often also translated into playing.

This general approach represents a rather contra-productive attitude and creates a perception where images do not get appreciated anymore by their artistic - or technical merits, but their effect.

I think it is not very different with this image - when considering that all what is seen here is basically the result of camera-handling !!
After I saw this image a few weeks ago the first time, I tried to read more about the camera, lens - technique of storformat photography, especially the facts having an impact of DOF - result is - it is rather complex to really understand in a pure theoretical way.
However, this image is a nice example, showing the specific options of this medium with it's very conscious chosen depth.

To me it is quite fascinating how much the fore - and background is " melting " together, without giving away it's very distinguish nature.
This, in cooperation with the delicate colour-composition is a wonderful basis for this small masterpiece, which leads to nothing sensational - other than a possible expression of one moment absolute concentration on something close to unreal.

Trying to search for a reference, something what could mirror such an feeling, notion, I think it makes sense to simply search in our memory for the few moments when being confronted with such an impression - and being freed from trying to communicate this feeling to anyone, just the solitude moment of experience.
In such thoughts I can't see anything wrong with the shown expression in her face..

Conclusion - I like this image quite a lot - but it is hard to come to it when used to endless PS filter /manipulation and images presented around the idea - it looks different - therefore it must be special.
This is to me a rarely seen piece of true photography.

Takk for kommentarane.

Georg: Thank you very much for your thorough and honest comment and view of photography in general. As always I value your comments.
