Yes, I think so too, because with luck or knowledge you have found a real interesting focus of main attention on some of the faces main points .
The reduction of all other parts of course strengthen those parts - and they are going well together.

Eyes, mouth, hair ( free forehead ) and the small beard are composing some lines, as a result you an expression which could be considered as a bit melancholic.

But as long as you can discover such elements in your own mood - I think it works great !
