WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This five day course will cover the elements involved in creating conceptual imagery with a focus on making images that are about something rather than of something. Students will learn about brainstorming, concept development, problem - solving and visual storytelling. We will draw inspiration from examining different styles, fashion trends, other photographer’s interpretations of topics, and students will use this to create their mood boards and develop their own concept. We will cover preproduction and scheduling, how to find a location that fits the concept, finding and working with models, planning the shoot with hair and make-up. We will also cover lighting, and working on set. How to assist your fellow students and how to execute your own concept.

Day 1 will be spent in the classroom looking at presentations of contemporary photographers, learning about working on location, brainstorming concepts and preproduction. On Day 2 students will prepare for their individual shoot concepts, as well as participate in a group conceptual photo shoot. On Day 3 and 4 students will execute their individual shoot concept. Day 5 will be spent editing and critique images from the previous day and wrapping up with a discussion essential business practices.

NORDphotography will supply the models and make-up/ hair team.
